Lunch & Learn Behaviour Talks


For Veterinary Centres, Rescue Centres & Groomers


I offer practical, in-person Lunch & Learn behaviour talks designed to help veterinary and animal care teams better understand canine behaviour and reduce stress, fear, and risk in the workplace.

These sessions support vets, nurses, reception staff, animal care assistants, dog walkers and groomers who regularly handle dogs and want to feel more confident, safer, and better equipped.

Price: £70 per hour
Format:
 In-person at your workplace (10 miles from AL1 3SB) or online if over 10 mile


What You’ll Learn


Understanding Canine Body Language


A clear, practical look at canine body language and subtle stress signals — the signs that are often missed in busy clinical environments but are key to preventing escalation.


Fear, Frustration & Aggression


Learn how to recognise the difference between:

  • Fear-based behaviour
  • Frustration
  • Aggression

Understand what drives these behaviours and how handling choices can either reduce or increase risk. Includes real-life video examples and take-home handouts.


Spotting Stress Early – The “Whispers”


Learn to identify early warning signs that a dog is feeling worried or unsafe, allowing you to intervene sooner and prevent reactivity.

Includes guidance on the Four F’s:

  • Flirting (appeasement behaviours)
  • Flight
  • Fiddling about
  • Freeze / fleeing play


Low-Stress Handling Techniques


Practical guidance on:

  • Supporting nervous or anxious dogs
  • Reducing stress during examinations and procedures
  • Creating a calmer experience for both dogs and staff


Interactive & Practical

Role Play Scenarios


Hands-on practice for real-world situations, including:

  • Handling nervous or fearful dogs
  • Managing escalating behaviour
  • Responding to dog bites or dog-on-dog incidents
  • Supporting breeders/rescue colleagues with puppy socialisation and habituation


Certificate of Completion


All attendees receive a certificate of completion, suitable for CPD records.
