Puppies, like children, will need to be taught essential life skills and boundaries such as impulse control, listening and manners so they can learn how to be well behaved and safe in our busy world...

Puppy Classes

Puppy Classes

During puppy classes we teach life skills to help keep a puppy safe.

We also provide guidance on how to help your puppy be emotionally resilient, happy and fulfilled.

We do not simply focus on obedience exercises but discuss how your puppy may be feeling in a situation whether that be happy, hesitant or worried and how to spot signs and how to support them.

Our sessions, as well as 5 hours of in person training include an online course, Facebook community group, and a certificate.

They are held at Marlborough Road Methodist Church, St Albans, AL1 3XG

We teach you how to teach your puppy to settle, come back when you call them, walk politely on the lead, impulse control, and fun games and tricks to play with them.

We also give guidance on body language so you can spot signs that your dog is happy and comfortable.

What's Included?

  • In person, live sessions with a qualified, experienced trainer studying with the University of Edinburgh Royal Vet School.
  • 5 hours of in person training.
  • Access to a Facebook community group with videos and worksheets.
  • Treats that are used in demonstrations.
  • A graduation pack including a certificate upon completion.
  • Access videos and guides in your pocket – there’s a handy site you can access the course content from.
  • We train indoors as puppies immune systems are still developing so really cold or really hot temperatures for too long (such as an hour) are not ideal.

You can choose to use a clicker or marker word in class. Here is information about both.

Who is this not for?

  • You want your dog to be trained within 5 weeks without doing training outside of class in different environments. I'd love it if I had a magic wand but I don't!
  • You want a quick fix and want to use equipment such as martingale collars (and are not open to using alternatives). We don't use these collars as they can cause pain/damage to the neck. Dogs can assocaite the sight of a dog/person with pain - so you end up with a new behavioural problem. They comprimise welfare and cause stress. You can read more here.

Can't make it?

Why not purchase our online puppy course. Click here.

Why does it cost this?

Our sessions  a certificate, an easy peasy platform to access videos and worksheets (for life!), 5 one hour sessions with a trainer and behaviourist (so you get the benefit of both elements). Lisa grauated with the Uni of Edinburgh Royal vet college. The behaviour and training industry is unfortunately unregulated meaning ANYONE can call themselves a trainer or behaviourist. This can result in people using outdated methods that can damage your relationship with your puppy and cause behavioural challenges.

Exclusively for graduates (pre and post!)

Are you waiting for class to start or have you finished within the last 3 months  want some extra training? Book in for an extra session at a discounted rate.

How many puppies?

This is for puppies 20 weeks and under who have previously done training sessions. If you're puppy is over 20 weeks, contact us and we can discuss options such as a pre - session to check if class is the right environment for them.
