Here’s how St Paws Training Academy can help…

I work with all dogs and any breed, as all dogs can learn using kind, science based methods. Your dog is an individual. There is no one size cookie cutter technique.
You do not need to worry: I never use techniques that will cause pain, fear or intimidation - I do not shout (at you , or your dog!) or use physical corrections.
I have studied dog behaviour with the University of Edinburgh Royal (Dick) School of Vet Studies, shadowed behaviourists and worked with reactive dogs since 2016.
A dogs genes, breed specific traits, learning history, life experiences , learning history and environment all can play a part in behaviour.
With behaviour modification services I help you to understand the motivation for the behaviour and the emotion behind it (they may be barking and lunging to say
"move away". I help people resolve dog problem behaviours and break down factors which can include pre-disposing, initiating and maintenance factors.
I work in association with your veterinarian incase there are any medical factors that can contribute to the behaviour. That is why I get access to your dogs clinical history.
Whether you're based in Hertfordshire or North London or anywhere in the World there are services that can support you and your dog so you can enjoy walks together.
“Been a great experience all round. Lisa is calm, collected and great with animals and I feel very heard when I've talked to her about any issues we've had with Murph in the past. Definitely recommend!!” Olivia Riddle and Murphy, St Albans
Hello, I'm Lisa, and this is a gorgeous Leonberger!

I am the founder of St Paws and a qualified dog trainer and behaviourist. I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Animal Behaviour from the University of Edinburgh Royal School of Vet Studies. I graduated in the incredible McEwan Hall - it was such a super weekend.
What makes me different from other behaviourists and trainers?
- I am committed to continued professional development - I am qualified at university level. Currently the dog behaviour industry is unregulated - anyone can say they're a behaviourist
- In addition to my studies, I have shadowed clinical animal behaviourists
- I am a member of the Federation of Animal Behaviour Clinicians and the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors which means I work within strict levels of competency and do not use methods that cause stress and pain (there is no need and no place for that)
Would we be a good fit working together? The answer is yes if...
- You would like to understand why your dog is behaving in certain ways
- You want to learn how to read and understand your dogs body language
- You want to understand how to use methods that have your dog's welfare at the heart of them (afterall you don't want to create new problems). You don't need to worry - I never use methods that use fear and intimidation - there are no prong collars or spray collars or slip leads here
- Your dog seems scared of other dogs or people and are barking and lunging at them and telling them to go away and you want to help them feel less worried
- You want support along the journey and you want an approach that is tailored to your dog
- You want to train and help your dog but you are feeling overwhelmed and want support
- You want someone to listen to you and provide actionable goals and steps
- You want to work with someone who is qualified, polite, non- judgemental, caring and knowledgeable and is committed to helping you and your dog as much as possible
- You want to work with someone who understands what your dog needs and what they enjoy

Kind words

“We recently completed 3 weeks of private one-on-one training sessions with Lisa and are SO glad we did so!
Our keeshond was extremely receptive to the training.
Every session was packed with information and Lisa expertly answered every question we had with great suggestions.
We will definitely be getting in touch if we need further training sessions in the future!”

Lisa has been amazing with our dog.She is patient, and very knowledgeable. She has shared so many tips and tricks, and gave us so much guidance and support which in turn had made us feel much more confident. We can now continue with the training ourselves. Thank you Lisa so much

Lisa is a very patient kind hearted person. She put us at ease and our reactive dog as soon as she came to our house. A lot of time was spent speaking before her visit so she gained a very thorough understanding of our dogs issues (and ours) as it turned out! Belle has improved a lot since our behaviour training with Lisa, still some work in progress but we now know how to manage her and read her body language etc. I would definitely recommend her.

Lisa helped us with our pup a few months ago.
Lisa was super professional and really took the time to understand our pup and us prior to training her.
She provided videos of their training sessions which were super helpful and talked us through everything needed to continue the training at home!
I’d highly recommend Lisa!!
