Hello! I'm Lisa
It’s great to meet you.
I’m Lisa. It’s my mission to help people have the happiest of lives with their reactive dog. I am a qualified and accredited behaviourist,
who has worked with dogs professionally for 9 years. I love supporting people and dogs so they can enjoy walks together again.
In my free time I volunteer for The Blue Cross teaching children about dog body language and safety. I was inspired to become a
behaviourist, after I witnessed people who called themselves trainers using methods that cause fear and stress. It gave me a fire in my belly to help understand as much about dog behaviour as I could and be in a position to help people who are experiencing challenges with their dogs. I hate the fact that there is still so much misinformation out there - I don’t want people to be given advice that is wrong and dangerous, when all they want to do is help their dog. My approach is supportive, empathetic and I truly get to know your dog. I am committed to using compassionate and kind methods. I want to help you to create lasting behaviour change for your dog. I'm here to support you help you both.
Wherever you are in the world, I'd love to speak to you and find out more about you and your dogs and how I can help support you both.
I've always loved dogs. After volunteering with dogs in a rescue environment, studying diplomas, courses on dog body language, setting
up a business specialising in reactive dogs and graduating with a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Animal Behaviour from the University
of Edinburgh, at St Paws Training Academy, I now solely work on behavioural reactivity cases with dogs. I help manage behaviours and
help people understand the motivation and emotion that is driving their dogs behaviour. Dogs can have strong emotions and this
can affect how they are perceived by people and other dogs. I'm here to help and I'm so proud to have helped so many dogs and people while
running St Paws Training Academy. It's a real privilege to work with so many incredible dog and committed caregivers.
Here's my journey with working with animals
From a young age I have always loved animals. One of my earliest memories is feeding a family of hedgehogs with my Granny! She used to give me a fiver and I would go to the local shop and come back with a Fry’s chocolate bar for her, a Cadbury Fruit and Nut for me and a tin of Whiskers for a neighbourhood cat who used to visit us! Here I am with a fluffy pal called Chomp.
After my maternity cover contract at a charity was about to end I was worried about what to do. I had a part time job and was looking after my Granny. I wanted to start a business with animals but knew I needed support to get there. I contacted the Princes Trust and my mentor Peter supported me with a business plan, I got accepted for a low interest rate loan and my business was launched!
I was about to launch dog training in 2020, I wanted to help clients with other needs they had with their dogs but Covid hit and clients needs for their pets changed. I managed to branch out in to online training. I won a silver award at the Best Business Women Awards in the animal services category. No wellies are underneath the dress!
I graduated from the University of Edinburgh Vet School with a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Animal Behaviour after lots of studying and brain stretching. I made some lovely frieds on my course and had great support. I shadowed lots of excellent behaviourists alongside my studies. I rebranded into St Paws Training Academy and focused solely on my passion - dog behaviour and training.
I was invited to speak on the BBC Breakfast sofa about dog legislation.
Here I am in the Manchester studio with Roger and Nina! I also spoke to Radio 5 live and the Financial Times and spoke at the Animal Law Conference in 2025.
I love spreading information about dog and cat behaviour to big publications so more people can be reached - there are alot of myths out there that make me sad and angry.
